The '''Gum shield''' is a recurring monster in the {{DQSeries}}, first appearing in {{Dragon Quest VI}}. It is a squat yellow-skinned, goblin-like creature that wields a shield and sword into battle.

These golden [[Humanoid family|scamps]] giggle from behind their fearsome gleaming shields, defending from damage deftly, only stepping out to stab and slash with their sharpened red swords. They have a chance to drop the shields they carry after battle. According to their monster description in ''X'', gum shields have trouble with public speaking, instead using ventriloquism to make their shields' faces speak for them.

Gum shield appears as a D-rank monster of the [[Demon family]] as part of the ''Dragon Quest VI'' event. It can be recruited from Chapter 3, Episode 1: [[Demon-at-arms|Demon-at-Arms]] Attacks of the event quests at any difficulty, eventually becoming recruitable in Part 3 of the storyline from Chapter 4, Episode 2: [[Totto]]'s Goals. The gum shield can participate in the [[Low djinks]] and [[Frankengolem]]'s Battle Road as a party member.
