The Gum shield is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VI. It is a squat yellow-skinned, goblin-like creature that wields a shield and sword into battle.
Characteristics[edit]
These golden scamps giggle from behind their fearsome gleaming shields, defending from damage deftly, only stepping out to stab and slash with their sharpened red swords. They have a chance to drop the shields they carry after battle. According to their monster description in X, gum shields have trouble with public speaking, instead using ventriloquism to make their shields' faces speak for them.
