The Cave of Confusion is the main bonus dungeon in the Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake, accessed in the postgame after beating Malroth. It is found at the newly resurfaced Cave of the Dwarves inside the well. Zoom and Evac don't work, and only one path on each level leads to the next; all others lead back to the entrance to the level. Like many bonus dungeons, it is composed from parts of previous dungeons.
The exit from each level can always be found near a chest containing a paltry amount of gold.
At the end of it (after 25 floors) is the Sphere of Light. Bringing this to the Dragonlord's great-great-grandson will allow you to challenge him. If you win, he will upgrade Erdrick's Sword and Shield to their "Supreme" versions, and you will unlock the true ending.
Another bonus dungeon is Citadel Tower leading from Cloudsgate Citadel up to Xenlon, though this is identical to III apart from different treasure (indeed, the tower music from III plays rather than that of II).
