The '''Tyrannodactyl''' is infamous among fans of ''II'' for being one of the only sources of the [[Mad Cap]]--an incredible hat that reduces MP costs significantly. Players would spend hours at a time hunting the creature to get the hat; one in particular being Pokemon creator Satoshi Tajiri. In an interview held in 1998, he revealed that the inspiration for exchanging data between games, a staple of his series, came about due to envy that his friend (and Pokemon illustrator) Ken Sugimori had managed to nab two of them and had no way to share them.
