The Ogre shield is a recurring shield in the Dragon Quest series, which debuted in Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride.
It is typically a mid to high-level shield and frequently offers mild protection to the wearer against fire and ice breath. While certain hardware limitations force the Ogre shield to have its polygon model rendered at around the same size as the other shields in a given title, it is consistently noted as being utterly massive via in-game menu descriptions and is thus restricted to only the most physically powerful characters.
