For the item in Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age that allows the Hero to create and refine items, see Fun-Size Forge
For the business in Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation where players can go to improve the style of their equipment, see Fashion Forge

The Forge is a menu in Dragon Quest Smash/Grow where players can upgrade, ascend, and sell armor. Memories can be ranked-up or converted into Memory Points at the forge as well.

Equipment[edit]

Upgrading Equipment[edit]

The level of a piece of equipment can be increased by exchanging Weapon Ore/Armour Ore and Gold for experience points. Each type of Weapon Ore/Armour Ore corresponds with a set amount of gold used in the upgrading process.

Ore Type Gold Requirement
Standard 100
Improved 350
Refined 800
Quality ?
Top-Notch ?

Ascending Equipment[edit]

Players can Ascend a piece of equipment by consuming duplicates of the specific item to increase that item's Ascension Level.

Selling Equipment[edit]

Players can sell equipment in exchange for Gold and Roly Points. Each tier of equipment sells for a specified amount of Gold and Roly Points, regardless of the item's level or Ascension Level. Equipment that is locked or currently equipped by the active party cannot be selected to be sold. If the equipment is in use within a party not currently selected, plays will receive a warning when selecting the item.

Because of the rarity of 3☆ items and the relatively low selling price, it is strongly advised against selling 3☆ gear.

Tier Gold Roly Points
1☆ 530 20
2☆ 4,800 170
3☆ 16,000 560

Memories[edit]

By default, the maximum number of Memories a player can posses is 200. This cap can be expanded in increments of +50 in exchange for 200 List of Items in Dragon Quest/Smash Grow#Currencies|Gems]]. Ranking Up and converting Memories in to Memory Points are ways in which players can maintain their Memory count.

Rank Up[edit]

Memories can Rank Up to increase the Stats and Boons they provide. Each Memory posses a rank between D, as the lowest rank, and S, as the highest rank. Duplicate Memories of the same rank are combined to increase the rank by one. The amount of Memories required depends on the rank of the Memory the player is trying to create and the specific kind of Memory.

At the bottom of the menu, is the Multi Rank Up button, which allows players to rank up all eligible Memories simultaneously. A maximum of 50 Memories can be selected at a time, with equipped and favourited Memories being skipped in the process.

Memories can be filtered by rarity, colour, rank and favourite status. They can additionally be sorted by: Cost, Memory Colour, Tank, Max HP, Attack, Magical Might, Magical Mending, Defence, Magical Defence, Deftness, Name, Acquisition Date, and Rarity.

Trading for Memory Points[edit]

Unlike equipment, which is sold for Gold and Roly Points, Memories are converted into a separate currency called Memory Points. The process of trading a Memory is irreversible.

This currency presently serves no function, with players able to obtain it but not spend it. The Trading For Memory Points guide states that memory points will be "...used in a feature released in a future update."
