Ragnar is a soldier in the kingdom of Burland in Dragon Warrior IV. He appears first in chapter 1 as the main protagonist. The king commands Ragnar and a group of soldiers to solve the mystery of the missing children. During his search, he is joined by a Healer named Healie. After solving the mystery, Ragnar sets out on a journey to find and protect the hero.
In chapter 2 and chapter 3 he appears briefly. In chapter 2 he is in the Endor Shrine at night. In chapter 3 he is in the casino in Endor.
In chapter 5, he joins the hero's party after defeating Keeleon at his castle.
