The Oaken staff, also known as the Oak staff, is a recurring weapon in the Dragon Quest series. It is the weapon the Hero from Dragon Quest V is seen wielding in his official artwork. It has gone on to become the most basic Wand for spellcasters.

The Oaken staff has an Attack bonus of +9. It can be purchased early in the game at Whealbrook for 130 gold coins, and can be equipped by the Hero and his son, Harry and Sancho, as well as several monster companions. Honey has the staff as part of her equipment.

The Oak staff has an Attack bonus of +3, a Magical Might bonus of +2, a Magical Mending and style bonus of +1, and increases the wielder's weight by 2, as well as having a MP absorption rate of 2%. The staff can be equipped by Mages, Armamentalists, Sages, and Druids. It can be crafted with woodworking.
