Archdemons first appear in Version 1.0 of the game in the boss battle against Nelgel. After taking a certain amount of damage, he will summon a pair of archdemons and a belial to fight against the adventurers. They are able to deflect attacks with their pitchforks and have their familiar ability to cast Kaboom, which has a high chance of going haywire when they are enraged. Starting with Version 4.0, archdemons gained a rarefied version in the form of the dessert demon. | |||

Archdemons appear as part of the Dark Army, typically as the personal guard of Dark Commander Hadlar. When Hadlar confronts the heroes on Valge Island, there are individual archdemons seen wielding flails instead of their usual pitchforks. In the 2020 anime series, these flail-wielding demons now have blue skin and wear purple gloves and boots. They appear to be stronger than their pink-skinned counterparts. | |||

The archdemon is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series.
| Dragon Quest monster | |
|---|---|
| Archdemon | |
Art by Akira Toriyama | |
| Japanese | アークデーモン |
| Romaji | Ākudēmon |
| First appearance | Dragon Quest II |
| Old localization | Bullwong ArcDemon |
Introduced in Dragon Quest II, it's a large demon armed with a pitchfork and powerful explosive magic.
CharacteristicsEdit
Equipped with almost every bit of paraphernalia one can think of being owned by a stereotypical demon, the monster bears wings, horns, a spiked tail, and a pitchfork. It wears a pair of green gloves and boots. With stats to match its bulky purple body, these monsters are usually a force to be reckoned with; capable of dealing heavy physical hits, but also casting advanced offensive magics to destroy its opponents. It has particular affinity for explosive magic, being commonly associated with the spell Kaboom. In many bestiaries where the archdemon appears, it is stated that the minidemons are the juvenile forms of archdemons even though, with the exception of V, their colours do not match up. The imp, however, has a purple color scheme, which is used by the minidemon in V.
AppearancesEdit

Note: This monster is only in the Nintendo DS and Cell phone versions of the game.

An archdemon residing in Tryan Gully tells the Hero and party that David was only to be told of his connection to the Seven Sages when ready.
Dragon Quest XEdit
Archdemons first appear in Version 1.0 of the game in the boss battle against Nelgel. After taking a certain amount of damage, he will summon a pair of archdemons and a belial to fight against the adventurers. They are able to deflect attacks with their pitchforks and have their familiar ability to cast Kaboom, which has a high chance of going haywire when they are enraged. Starting with Version 4.0, archdemons gained a rarefied version in the form of the dessert demon.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of DaiEdit
Archdemons appear as part of the Dark Army, typically as the personal guard of Dark Commander Hadlar. When Hadlar confronts the heroes on Valge Island, there are individual archdemons seen wielding flails instead of their usual pitchforks. In the 2020 anime series, these flail-wielding demons now have blue skin and wear purple gloves and boots. They appear to be stronger than their pink-skinned counterparts.
