Effect Inserting the fragments back in to the pedestals found in the Shrine of Mysteries allows the heroes to travel back to an island region in the past.

The fragments (ふしぎな石版 fushigi na sekiban "Mysterious Lithograph", originally shards) are a Key Item in Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past.

They can generally be separated into four separate colors as follows:

  • Yellow Fragments (ふしぎな石版黄 - originally LandShard)
  • Red Fragments (ふしぎな石版赤 - originally FireShard)
  • Blue Fragments (ふしぎな石版青 - orginally AquaShard)
  • Green Fragments (ふしぎな石版緑 - originally WindShard)

In addition to these four, there are also the Mysterious Fragments (ふしぎな石版? - originally ?Shard). Each of these fragments have correspondingly colored pedestals in the Shrine of Mysteries they must be inserted into, which will become necessary to proceed with the game.
