History[edit]

Past[edit]

Upon entering, the party sees the villagers are worried about a 'monster' apparently living in the village's church, one who has supposedly conjured an awful fog engulfing their land, filling it with monsters and killed 3 people, including their priest. Luka, an orphaned woodcutter child living there, wanted revenge at the monster for the deaths of his parents. But seeing the monster always in a harmless state of sorrow, he starts to reconsider his resolve. Meanwhile the villagers begin to plot how to get rid of the monster. They plan on the following midnight to fake a fire on the church to draw him out and pulverize him. When the time draws near, the mayor will ask the party to come with him to the church. The player can then choose to go with him and strike down the monster but then lose the will to do so, or refuse to go and show sympathy, outraging the mayor and orders them locked in the shed. A girl by the door lets them out if they promise no more naughtiness. Either way, at that point, Luka has a change of heart and pleads the people to stop hurting the monster. The mayor will instead be convinced Luka's siding with a band of traitors and he and the party are thrown away to Mt. Tor and lock the gate to trap them inside.

Luka knows a way out through the very top. At the peak of Mt. Tor, a 'priest' is seen with some monsters generating the fog. Luka tries to talk to him because he reminds him of the missing priest, but that 'priest' was actually a monster in disguise, Gasputin. The monster says that the priest and Luka's parents tried to stop him, but when the woodcutter couple was defeated, the priest pleaded to have his village spared. Gasputin agrees if the priest was willing to give up his human form, then he will not harm the people as long as the priest lives. Gasputin could hardly wait to launch an attack on the village once they've foolishly finished off their own priest. After Gasputin is defeated, the monsters emitting the fog make themselves scarce and it begins to dissipate from the whole land. The party returns to Vogograd and sees the 'monster' bound to a stake with the mayor ready to set it on fire. The party stops them in the nick of time and they all see the missing priest's curse is broken.

Still badly hurt, the priest decides to leave the village with his wounds, not wanting the townspeople to continue feeling regret for almost killing him, since it was the monsters' fault. Luka was unable to stop him, although Luka was able to persuade him to accept a statuette that belonged to his mother for his safety. Afterwards, the villagers decide to built a monument dedicated to the priest so that future generations will know about the priest's sacrifice and the crimes that the villagers committed against the priest.

Present[edit]

Upon entering Vogograd in the present, the party discovers that the current villagers apparently believe that their ancestors protected the priest who warded off the monsters of the land while the adventurers, believed to be monsters in disguise, tried to kill the priest. So far, the only ones who know the real truth are Luka's descendants. One of them, a kid named Lev, tries to tell the other kids the truth, which he had been told by his grandfather. However, the other kids refuse to believe him and call him a liar. Upon inspecting the stone monument in the center of town, the party discovers that someone had replaced part of the monument to cover up what really happened. When the group talks to the elder about this, he refuses to believe it. After going into the cellar below the house, the party, along with the other kids, find an old stone tablet explaining what really happened. Realizing that they were wrong about Lev, the other children decide to tell the adults the truth. Meanwhile, the party shows the tablet to the elder. However, the elder, not wanting the village's reputation to be ruined, refuses to acknowledge the truth and instead destroys the tablet, then rudely tells the group to leave and never return. After heading back to the cellar and speaking to the kids it is discovered that, with the exception of Lev's father, all of the adults refuse to believe them. When Lev comes in, the other kids apologize for calling him a liar and allow him to be their friend again. They then decide to make sure everyone knows the truth of what happened, no matter how long it takes. The leader of the kids, Sasha, gives the party a Blue Fragment that he had found earlier.

Later on, if the party returns to town after discovering that the Almighty is actually Orgodemir in disguise, they discover that, due to the older villagers still believing the false legend about the priest, outsiders are no longer welcome in the town, due to the townsfolk believing that all outsiders are monsters in disguise. They even ostracize one of their own citizens who had left Vogograd years ago and had recently moved back.

When the party discovers the stone tablet, they have a choice on which mayor to present it towards. If they show it to the mayor of the present, he will then destroy it as the original ending then proceeds. However, if the party instead show the tablet to the mayor of the past, he then recognizes the words inscribed as what he plans on carving into it and will be so shocked with disbelief that the people of their future would hid the truth away and make the same mistakes they did. He then ceases the construction of the monument to find a new way to be certain their true history is never warped or forgotten. Upon returning to the present, the stone monument has been replaced with a bronze statue of the Hero to signify the adventurers' efforts in saving their beloved priest they've horribly wronged after he let himself be cursed to keep them safe. The village has also forbade the true story from ever being recorded with words or images, only word of the mouths passed on through the generations with absolute accuracy. Lev and the other kids are seen by the statue, acting out the heroes' battle with the imposter priest. Their bond is shown even stronger than before, promising a brighter future for the village.
