These primates are fearsome enemies due to their ability to wipe entire adventuring parties out with their '''Kamikazee''' spell. The Batmandrill is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series since its introduction in Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line. It is a stronger, fire-breathing variant of the Silvapithecus.
Characteristics
Batmandrills are man-sized mandrills with the wings, ears, and noses of bats. In their original appearance and many modern appearances, they had peach-colored fur with dark blue faces, wings with dark red membranes, and claws. But in some games, they have gold coats, giving them their original names. They have solid red or yellow demonic eyes. These primates are fearsome enemies due to their ability to wipe entire adventuring parties out with their Kamikazee spell. They can also breathe out flames or put foes to sleep with their sweet breath and cast Sizzle, as well. In remake versions of II, the batmandrill gained the ability to act twice per turn and breathes out poisonous breath instead of its sweet breath. They will now only sacrifice themselves when their HP is low. Unlike their silver cousins, the formidable devils did not make a reappearance in the main series until X, like many other monsters.
