The Bubble Slime (originally Babble) is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest II, it is a poisonous puddle of goo.
Characteristics
Bubble Slimes are, as their name would suggest, relatives of Slimes but are more fluid and green by comparison. They also appear to be perpetually bubbling, though the bubbles appear to hang in place instead of being constantly produced.
Normally stronger than standard Slimes, Bubble Slimes are also poisonous; possibly the first monster in the entire series capable of inflicting poison on players' characters. This poisoning ability tends to make Bubble Slimes more of a nuisance than a substantial threat, assuming the player is well-stocked and at an appropriate level.
Appearances
Dragon Quest II
Making their first appearance, Bubble Slimes start appearing around the time the second party member is acquired.
Dragon Quest III
Dragon Quest IV
Dragon Quest V
Dragon Quest VI
Dragon Quest VII
Dragon Quest VIII
Bubble Slimes initially appear as nocturnal monsters and inhabit the first few dungeons the player must tackle. While they appear in latter portions of the game, they become more of a nuisance by that point, especially if a sneak attack provides the chance for one or more to poison members of the party.
