The garter provides a defence boost of +3, but more importantly changes the Personality of the character that equips it to "Sexy". It can only be worn by female characters.

Dragon Quest VII

The garter provides a defence boost of +3. It can only be worn by Maribel and Aira.

Dragon Quest VIII

The garter provides a defence boost of +6. It can only be worn by Jessica.
