The Anarchaeopteryx (formerly Fuga) is a monster introduced in Dragon Quest VII. It can be found in the Marsh Cave and the Roamers region in the past.

Characteristics

Anarchaeopteryxes are large, bird monsters that have some dinosaurian features. They have blue plumage and yellow scales, small almost vestigial wings, a long scaly tail, and their beaks are similar to a dragon's mouth. They use their powerful legs to scratch enemies and can bite with their sharp fangs.

Etymology

Anarchaeopteryx is a combination of the the dinosaur Archaeopteryx and the word anarchy, which means chaos or disorder. Archaeopteryx is fittingly similar to the monster as it is a bird-like dinosaur with feathers whose discovery by archaeologists in 1861 helped provide a link between reptiles and modern birds.
