Mouldy slimes, also known as pickled slimes, is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest X. It is a yellow variant of the bubble slime with mushrooms growing on its body.

Characteristics

The mouldy slime is a slime that looks like a puddle of melted yellow clay with what appears to be mushrooms growing amidst the muck surrounding it. Its Japanese name, Nukadoko slime, refers to a fermented bed of rice bran that is used for pickling vegetables that was developed in the 17th century.

Dragon Quest Tact

The pickled slime appears as an A-rank monster of the Slime family during the limited Slime Fest event. The pickled slime appears as the boss of Chapter 1, Episode 5 of the event quests on all difficulties and will join the player after defeating it. It can be fully awakened by completing the stage at any difficulty and it also stars in its own Battle Road.
