Yggdrasil's Arbour is an island dungeon added to Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake, set east of Burrowell. It is based on the single-tile forest of older versions of the game, which yielded a Yggdrasil leaf when inspected.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake[edit]
Yggdrasil's Arbour is first mentioned by the Queen of Cannock when the Prince of Midenhall and the Princess of Moonbrooke alert her to her son succumbing to a curse in Beran. She describes the legendary healing properties of the World Tree but regretfully informs them that only the royal family of Rendarak knew the tree's location. When the duo return to Beran, with the Princess of Cannock sneaking away to aid her brother, the group is informed by an Aged Priest of Yggdrasil's whereabouts after he forces them to swear to secrecy. He warns the children that the forest tests those who would enter it's domain and gives them the forest's favour to dispel the magic fog filling the glen―without it the dungeon becomes an infinite loop that cannot be navigated.
The natural dungeon is a simple one that reflects the immense age of the central tree, and the entire area is teeming with verdant plant life. Even the resident monsters appear to be in their natural habitat here, rather than the eclectic hordes roaming other regions. At the center of the forest stand's Yggdrasil, with a single leaf suspended in an alcove in it's trunk. Unlike other games that feature the leaves as disposable items, there is only one in this title.
