The puppeteer is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest VIII, it is a humanoid monster armed with hand puppets.
Characteristics[edit]
Puppeteers wear outfits that completely cover their forms with only their blank eyes being visible through the eye-holes in their masks, much like those worn by stagehands in traditional Japanese theater known as kuroko. This concealing garb is mostly a black color with some blue and green, likely to focus attention towards the more colorful puppets used by the puppeteer, namely a lump mage on their right arms and a slime on their left. It also carries a puppet of a dracky and a golem that it uses when telling different stories. The puppeteer can also envelop its enemies in illusions and uses its slime puppet to perform punches.
