The bird of terrordise (originally HellHawk) is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest VII, it is a fiery red variant of the prism peacock.
Characteristics
Like their prism peacock brethren, birds of terrordise sport humanoid bodies and horns along with their indicated avian qualities, but are of a red-hot coloring as opposed to the prism peacocks' motley plumage.
Appearances
Dragon Quest VII
Birds of terrordise (then HellHawk) make their first appearance, though it is not until around the end that they appear. They are incredibly powerful, boasting high stats and the most lethal of the fire breath attacks. The area accessible by use of the fire crest inside Orgodemir's castle houses birds of terrordise, and they are arguably one of the most powerful monsters faced in that dungeon.
They can be found in the Dark Palace and Zion Cave.
Dragon Quest IX
Grotto-only beasts that rear their flame-shaded heads in blazing grottoes.
