The Thorn whip (also known as spiny whip and rosevine whip) is a recurring weapon in the Dragon Quest franchise. It's a very basic whip.

Appearances

Dragon Quest III

The thorn whip (called the spiny whip in the GBC version) has an attack bonus of +18. It can be equipped by the Hero, mages, thieves, jesters, and sages. It can be purchased in shops for 320 gold in the NES version, but in the SNES and GBC versions, it is obtained by turning in 5 tiny medals to the medal collector in Aliahan.

Dragon Quest IV

The thorn whip has an attack bonus of +14 and can be purchased for 200 gold. In the Playstation and DS versions, it's replaced by the divine dagger.

Dragon Quest V

The thorn whip has an attack bonus of +18.

Dragon Quest VI

Dragon Quest VII

The thorn whip (called the rosevine whip in this game) has an attack bonus of +18 and an appearance bonus of +7. It can be equipped by Maribel and Aira.

Dragon Quest VIII

The thorn whip has an attack bonus of +14. It can only be equipped by Jessica.

Dragon Quest IX

The thorn whip has an attack bonus of +11 and can be equipped by any character that can use whips.
