Cowpat is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VIII. In many games, it used as an ingredient for alchemy.

Cowpat can be found in pots and barrels in Pickham, the Swordsman's Labyrinth, Arcadia, and Dark Empycchu, as well as being dropped by Bullfinches, Flyguys, Buffalo wings, Bulldozers, Freeze flies, and Beelzebuzzes. It can be sold for a mere 3 gold coins.
Cowpat is used in the following alchemy recipes:

Cowpat can be collected from Zere and can also be dropped by Bags o' laughs, Mudrakers, and Swinoceroses. Seven pieces of cowpat, along with three pieces of horse manure, are required to complete Quest #52: Tall Order Cook and it can also be used to complete Quest #13: All Fired Up. Cowpat can be sold for 2 gold.

Dragon Quest X[edit]
Cowpat, along with horse manure, can be used as fertilizer for growing crops or in Alchemy to add a Sap effect to weapons. It can be picked up from sparkly spots or dropped by certain monsters.

One piece of cowpat can be found in a barrel at Sniflheim and another in the Heliodor Dungeons. Unlike other games, it is not used as a material for item crafting and can simply be sold for 1 gold.
