Usually stronger than [[rockbomb]]s, at least in terms of stamina, bomboulders further differentiate themselves from their equally suicidal brethren by expending their lives to support their comrades instead of doing so in an attempt to wipe out the enemy. They achieve this with their knowledge of the spell [[Kerplunk]], making them bothersome opponents when attempting to dispose of a large group of {{MFamilies}}s.
 
In the {{DS}} remakes of the [[Zenithia trilogy]], they are further distinguished from their [[rockbomb]] cousins by having a full grin instead of gaped teeth.

The bomboulder is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series.
