The golden axe is a recurring weapon in the Dragon Quest series.
The golden axe is noteworthy for being one of the few weapons that decreases in Attack power when "upgraded", which reflects the real world status of gold being a soft metal.
However, this developer prank is mitigated by the fact that the golden axe can be upgraded into the much more powerful moon axe and king axe.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]
The Golden axe has an Attack bonus of +27, and can be upgraded to the moon axe with a Moon's mercy, and into the King axe via a Slime crown.
