AppearancesEdit
Dragon Quest VIIIEdit
Clockwork cuckoos have the ability to transform themselves into a sharp blade to attack, although the skill would not be known as Birdcutter until the next game. It deals 12~18 non-elemental damage to the entire party that can only be reduced by defending. The skill can also be used by Mechabubo.
Dragon Quest IXEdit
Birdcutter is an enemy-only skill that can only be used by Clockwork cuckoos in this game. It inflicts slightly less damage, only dealing 10~15 non-elemental damage to the entire party that can only be reduced by defending.
Dragon Quest XEdit
Birdcutter can be used once again by Clockwork cuckoos and it can also be learned by a Mecha-mynah monster companion. It costs 2 MP to use and inflicts 130% potency physical damage on nearby enemies.
Dragon Quest XIEdit
Birdcutter returns to being an enemy-only skill that can be used by Clockwork cuckoos and their malicious counterparts. In 3D versions of the game, it targets 2-4 party members and can now be dodged, while in 2D mode, it targets the entire party. When used, the in-game text states that the clockwork cuckoo "becomes a blurring blade!".
