The ring of truth, also known as the sober ring, is a recurring accessory in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest VIII. It is designed to help protect the wearer against illusions/bedazzling.

Dragon Quest VIII
The ring of truth is an accessory that provides a defense boost of +10 and protects against Dazzle. It can be equipped by all characters and can be sold for 700 gold. The ring can be obtained in the World of Darkness version of the Godbird's Eyrie or it can be made by combining a Gold ring and a Sandstorm spear in the Alchemy Pot. It can also be used to create a Catholicon ring by combining it with a ring of immunity and a full moon ring.

Dragon Quest X
The ring of truth has a defence bonus of +2, a style bonus of +5, and increases resistance against bedazzlement by 50%. It can be dropped by various monsters including Dessert demons and War gryphons. With accessory synthesis, the defence and bedazzlement resistance can be increased.

Dragon Quest Heroes II
The ring of truth reduces the duration of being dazzled by 40%. Once it has been fully upgraded, the bedazzlement duration will be reduced by 80% and it will also grant a defence bonus of +10. The ring can be received by exchanging 6 mini medals once or it can be dropped rarely by Gryphons and War gryphons.
