When the [[Hero 1}} first sets foot in the village the Over-Seer attempts to frighten him off with a booming voice, but is stopped by the Arm-Twister and the Day-Dreamer. The Over-Seer states her dislike of humans, but listens to the Hero explain that he was sent by an ailing dwarf from their cave to the east in the hopes that the faeries could cure his illness born from the fetid swamps that have sprung up across Alefgard in the wake of the Dragonlord's rising. The Over-Seer cannot aid the Hero on account of not knowing what the final ingredients are, but allows the Hero to stay the night in the village. Ashe slumbers he is contacted by the Dream-Whisperer, the kidnapped boss of the faeries, who informs him of the missing ingredients to make the cure.
Upon obtaining the necessary reagents, glimmergrass and wakerobin, the Hero returns to the village to find it under attack by the Dragonlord's forces. The monsters are no match for him and the grateful Arm-Twiser & Day-Dreamer quickly set to work concocting the sunup syrup to cure the ailing dwarf. While the Hero and Over-Seer wait, she notices he has a pair of glowing seeds. She explains that the seeds are very rare and contain incredible power if put to use properly, something the Dream-Whisperer was working on before her abduction. While the Over-Seer whines that a human of all beings found the seeds, the Hero simply hands them to her as thanks for the sunup syrup. As the Hero leaves to cure the dwarf, the Over-Seer tells him to return once the cure has set in.
Once the dwarf is back on his feet and working with the Warlock of Doorlocks in Rimuldar to create the magic key, the Hero returns to the village to see the faeries crowded in the alchemy building. The Arm-Twister, Day-Dreamer, and Craft-Master successful use the glowing seeds to create the soul sigil just as the Hero enters the scene. The faeries explain that the Dream-Whisperer planned to create 5 sigils that would each store a different aspect of nature, and that they would be used to summon the missing Goddess Rubiss back into Alefgard. The Hero interjects and explains he already knows that part, causing the Day-Dreamer to rat out the Arm-Twister spilling the beans on the big plan when the Hero saved them in the Craggy Cave near the beginning of his quest. The Over-Seer then gives the soul sigil to the Hero, granting him access to souped-up skills, and the Craft-Master explains the process of making the remaining four sigils.
The Hero will return to the village after rescuing the Dream-Whisperer from the Mirage holding her prisoner in the Weirdwood. Once the boss of the faeries recovers, she explains the process that will summon Rubiss back to the world and sends the Hero out to retrieve the faerie flute and the lyre of ire to complete the ceremony, in addition to gathering the components for the final sigils. tragedy will strike by the time the Hero fulfills his mission, as the Dragonlord's power has grown and his minions are spirited away to the villages of Alefgard, including the Faerie Village. The forest is already ravaged by the time the Hero arrives and several faeries have been killed, including the Arm-Twister who took a fatal blow for the Day-Dreamer. After slaying the monsters the Hero is instructed to gather what materials remain; once this is accomplished the faeries make for the Shrine of Rain.

The chests that contain the faerie foil and tempest shield require the thief's key and magic key respectively. In the former's case it makes for an excellent early game weapon should the player choose to take a detour to the village. There are also ability scrolls that teach the Crackle and Snub spells that require no keys to access, making the detour advisable.
