The Shrine North of Rippleport is a ruined building far to the northwest of the eponymous port city.

Appearances

Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line

The shrine is a simple building with a teleportal that leads to the Shrine of Flames. The sole resident is an old man who informs the trio of cousins that they will need the golden key to access the teleportal.

Remake changes

In Dragon Quest I & II version and the Android/iOS ports of the game, a humorous scene will play out if the player speaks to the old man with the golden key in their possession. The old coot will use the key to unlock the teleportal and go for a trip, forcing the player to follow him to get it back. If the player beats the game without having collected the golden key, the old man's dialogue will be altered.

Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake

The humorous scene from the 16-bit versions of the game has been removed as the silver key and golden key have been replaced with the series-standard three key system, and the teleportal connection has been changed to the Shrine South of Midenhall.
