The Shrine South of Midenhall is ruined structure far the the south of the kingdom of Midenhall, found on the lengthy peninsula that stretches into the southern seas.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line[edit]
The shrine contains a door that requires the golden key to unlock, and there dwells an old man who informs the player of the location of the silver key. He is incidentally the younger brother of the old man who lives near Gwaelin's Gate. The teleportal is connected to the kingdom of Dirkandor, and serves as a shortcut for players who don't want to brave the sea monsters to reach the island nation.
Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake[edit]
The bridge connecting the peninsula to the rest of the continent has been removed, meaning the player can only reach the shrine by using the teleportal within the Shrine North of Rippleport or by sailing after obtaining the ship in Rippleport. Despite this lengthy delay in reaching the shrine, the old man still only mentions the key system the player is doubtlessly familiar with by that point.
North of the shrine is a secret spot where a Martial Artist, a Toughie, & a Warrior discuss the rumors surrounding the Ghost Ship and the Sunken Ship. This discourse helps inform the player of the vessels' locations and makes light of how easy it is to confuse one for the other.
