Moonahan is a village in the center of Greater Alefgard, just north of Moonbrooke.
The town serves as a central location for several quests during the early portion of the game. Specifically, freeing the Princess of Moonbrooke, retrieving the Windbreaker, and departing for Rippleport.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line[edit]
Moonahan is the meeting point of the three Luminaries. After obtaining the Ra's Mirror, the princes can use it on a dog in the upper-east section of the town to break Hargon's curse and reveal that it is really the princess.
Moonahan is also home to the Water Sigil. It is hidden behind a Golden Key door and a Jailor's Key door. The Luminaries must then fight two Grimlins and search the empty cell to find it. The location of this Sigil is hinted by a man in Beran.

Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake[edit]
Moonahan remains mostly unchanged compared to past iterations of the game, though it now hosts the first tombola stall the player will have access to, after it was removed from Leftwyne. After restoring the Princess of Moonbrooke to normal the young lady is overjoyed to see her cousins and beckons them to follow her to Moonbrooke's aid, but the Princes regretfully inform her of the desolation of her kingdom. Struck to the ground by shock and grief, the trio of cousins elect to rest at the village inn for her to recuperate and share what they know with her.
The Princess' grief gives way to fury and she swears she will see the death of Hargon, with the Prince of Cannock asking if he is the same fiend responsible for the sacking of Rendarak several decades prior. The Princess affirms he is her target, and the Princes swear to stick by her to save the realm. The trio remains in Moonahan to rest before departing to Midenhall and Cannock in the morning to inform the kings of what they have learned. That night the Prince of Cannock whispers to the Prince of Midenhall to meet him in Moonahan's streets so get his advice on how to handle the immensity of the task fate has set before them, fearing his easygoing nature may not measure up to what destiny has in store for the three. He also worries about the well being of the Princess, hoping the two Princes can mend the ache of loss in her heart―though he wonders how he can pull this off while formally addressing her as "Princess", and ponders if calling her "sweet coz" would be too casual. The Princess of Moonbrooke has overheard all of this while peeping on the two from afar and the next morning insists her cousins relax around her, teasing the Prince of Cannock before dashing off ahead.
The player will return to Moonahan much later to retrieve the water sigil as in past versions of the game, though now the underground chamber can only be accessed after obtaining the misplaced key from the Den of Thieves hidden below the Deserted Village. Here, the four Scions witness the Young Thief negotiating with a monster disguised as a priest so that the Children of Hargon will cure his ailing sister, with the water sigil being his leverage. The thief botches his chances by infuriating the monster, who transforms in order to kill him and simply take the sigil. The Scions intervene and the monster begs for his lord Pazuzu to forgive his failings before dying, informing the group of another one of Hargon's champions. The Young Thief then explains how his sister fell deathly ill and he was approached by a member of the Children of Hargon, who would cure her if he committed enough wicked deeds and encouraged other humans to do the same in addition to stealing the water sigil from none other than Atlas himself. The group is reminded of the Twisted Sister attempting to sway the people of Rippleport in the same fashion, and the Young Thief's order to filch the sigil from Atlas informs them of the treachery within the Children of Hargon.
The Young Thief repents for being lead along by monsters, and gives the party the sigil to make amends. The player has the choice whether or not to give him the remainder of the tea brewed from a leaf of Yggdrasil, used to cure the Prince of Cannock earlier in the quest, in the hopes that it will save the thief's sister. The ending will be slightly changed depending on the player's decision.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]
Moonaham is accessible through the Echo Chamber, and the Luminary and co. are transported to a time just before the breaking of the princess' curse. The townsfolk have been turned into dogs while the princess is human, and she requests a jug of Magic water to turn the town back to normal. Once she is given some, the scenario is flipped leaving herself cursed as she awaits the arrival of her cousins.
Dragon Quest Builders 2[edit]
Moonahan is, as expected, a hamlet north of Moonbrooke. There is a chest in the church basement with the unique Portrait of a Princess decorative item.
