Class | Hero |
Race | Initially human |
The Hero of Dragon Quest X is a revived human who has incarnated in one of the five other races of their world after a monster assault on their home village of Tenton.
Appearance and personality[edit]
Prior to their death, the Hero was a youth in their late teens who lived a quiet life with their family and fellow villagers. Their design carries a tropical flair owning to Tenton's nature as an island community, and the male Hero is typically represented as a Warrior using the Scottish inspired design for promotional material.
When the Hero was born, the Galapogod stood up and roared, his cries echoing all through out the island. This was taken as a sign by the village elders of the infant having a powerful destiny, particularly the grandmotherly Tenda. The Hero is exceptionally skilled at Alchemy, often fixing the mistakes of their siblings and neighbors.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest X[edit]
The game begins with the player customizing the Hero and their younger brother and sister, followed by a brief tutorial segment that introduces the inhabitants of Tenton and the Hero's place in the close-nit community. This tranquil life comes to an abrupt and tragic end when a force of monsters led by Nelgel massacre the villagers in a full frontal assault. The Hero is able to save their siblings, but they themselves are quickly killed.
Awakening in a strange place known as the Room of Revival, the Hero is given a second chance at life by incarnating as one of the world's five civilized races: an Ogre, Elf, Dwarf, Poppet, or Wetling. Once restored to the land of the living in the territory of their new race, the Hero must adjust to their new body, reunite with their siblings, and avenge Tenton.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]
The Luminary encounters the Hero and Heroine in the Room of Revival shortly after their demise. They have been rendered unable to reincarnate due to a monster know as the Revivalist replacing the statues of each race with those of monsters. Once the raving reverend is disposed of, the duo can safely return to life and thank the Luminary with a pair of All-Weather Earrings for his trouble.
