Whistle is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series. It is used to instantly call for a random monster and engage it in a battle.
Appearances
Dragon Quest IV
In the remakes, Torneko learns this at level 12.
Dragon Quest V
Learned by Sancho at level 24.
Dragon Quest VI
Whistle is learned by advancing to rank 2 of the Gadabout vocation.
Dragon Quest VII
Learned by reaching rank 2 of the Gadabout vocation.
Dragon Quest VIII
Learned by Yangus after investing 4 points in to his Humanity skill tree.
- With visible encounters being added to the the 3DS port, Whistle now draws monsters to the party from a visible distance. This unfortunately does not work on metal slimes.
Dragon Quest IX
This ability is learned with 28 skill points invested into Courage skill. In Dragon Quest IX, Whistle now has an additional function in battle: it may enrage an enemy group.
