The Leather Kilt is a recurring piece of equipment in the Dragon Quest franchise. They provide a low amount of defence and can only be worn by male characters.

Dragon Quest III

The leather kilt (called Kilt on the Gameboy Color version) has a defence bonus of +24. It can only be worn by Heroes, Warriors, Dealers, and Jesters. Unlike future incarnations, it is not restricted to males.

Dragon Quest V

The leather kilt has a defence bonus of +12.

Dragon Quest VII

The leather kilt has a defence bonus of +12, but reduces appearance by 20. It can be worn by Kiefer, Gabo, and Melvin.

Dragon Quest VIII

The leather kilt has a defence bonus of +12. Only Yangus can wear it.
