The Princess Pledge (Gwaelin's Love, LoraLuv in previous localizations) is an item in the original Dragon Quest, bestowed upon the player once they have returned Princess Gwaelin to her castle. When used on the overworld, the voice of the princess tells the Hero (Dragon Quest I) his exact distance from Tantegel. The distance is given in terms of the number of steps north/south and the number of steps east/west.
The primary purpose of the item is to aid the player in locating the Emblem of Erdrick, which is hidden in a swamp on the overworld.
