Chomp is a feral skill used by the wolf-cub-turned-human Ruff that allows him to put his sharp teeth to good use.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]

Ruff learns Chomp at level 4 and it deals 80~150% damage of a normal attack to one enemy for 0 MP. Despite using the whole attack stat instead of just the raw Strength attribute, the game's programming does not classify Chomp as a weapon-based skill and thus the bonus traits of the dragonsbane, fire claws, and so on will not activate.

  • In the Nintendo 3DS remake, Chomp deals the same damage as a normal attack.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined[edit]

Ruff learned Chomp at rank 5 of his Wolf Boy vocation and already knows it upon joining the party. It now costs 2 MP to use but will consistently deal 150% damage of a normal attack, though it cannot land a critical hit.
