Stornway is a town in Dragon Quest IX. It is one of the first towns visited by the hero. It is home to the Quester's Rest inn and is generally considered the "central" location in the game, despite only being involved in the early plot. The region surrounding the town shares the name Stornway.

Much of Stornway's importance is related to the Quester's Rest inn. It makes Stornway the hub for changing party members, accessing multiplayer, and DQVC features of Dragon Quest IX. The town adds two additional shops after completing the main story of the game. This also adds to Stornway's usefulness in the post game.

Stornway is the first town to be visited after Angel Falls. It is the first location with a castle that the player visits. The player can access it after the road to Angel Falls has been cleared by the castle guards. This happens after the player visits and clears The Hexagon.

Arriving in Stornway, the player becomes involved in the saga with the Wight Knight and Princess Simona. This involves trips to a clearing north of the castle, as well as Brigadoom. After resolving he conflict, King Schott tells the player that the checkpoint east of the castle is now open, allowing passage to Coffinwell.

In addition to the main plot, Stornway is also where the player sees Erinn relocate from Angel Falls and assume control over the Quester's Rest inn. This concludes her role in the main portion of the plot.
