Party Pooper, also known as Clean Sweep, is a recurring crowd control technique in the Dragon Quest series. It swipes at a group of enemies with a polearm weapon, much like a whip. The skill can also be used by certain monsters by swinging their tails or limbs at the party.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation
Party Pooper makes its debut as an enemy-only skill used by Gracos. It deals 75% of his normal attack damage to the entire party by mowing them down with his trident. It is possible for the party to replicate the technique by using Follow Suit.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past
Party Pooper returns once again as an enemy-only skill that can be used by Gracos and his descendant Gracos V. Once again, it inflicts 75% of their normal damage to the entire party.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
Known as Clean Sweep in this game, it can be learned by the Hero by investing 45 points into his Spears skill and costs 0 MP to use. The attack deals strike/rock-type damage and decreases per enemy struck, with the second being 80% power, the third 64%, the fourth 56%, and sixth 40%, the seventh 25%, and 16% for all other monsters. On the enemy side, it can be used by Frou-frous, Khalamari, and the Great argon lizard.
- In the Nintendo 3DS version, the skill now costs 2 MP to use. It can also be used by the Great Argon Lizard in Memoriam.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
This ability is learned with 42 skill points allocated into Staff skill and costs no MP to use. Damage decreases per enemy struck, with the second being 80% power, the third 70%, fourth 50%, fifth 30%, and bottoming out at 20% for all other monsters.
Dragon Quest X
Party Pooper is learned by sliding 5 skill points into the staff tree, and the user will make a 270 degree swing arc in front of them when used. There is no damage reduction at all, with the skill inflicting between 130% and 150% damage to all enemies smacked.
- In the Offline version of the game, Party Pooper can be learned by the Hero and Mjoll through the Staffs panel on their character builders for 5 skill points. It inflicts between 130~150% damage to a single group of enemies.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age
Serena and Jade will learn the skill for 16 points through the Spears section of their character builders. It costs 4 MP to pull off, and deals a fixed 80% damage to all enemies in a group.
Dragon Quest Treasures
Party pooper is learned by Orcs and Orc kings, and costs 2 MP to use. It is a wide, sweeping spear swipe that deals slashing damage to any enemy in range.
Etymology
- A party pooper is someone who ruins the fun of others, whether deliberately or unintentionally. It is a synonym of wet blanket, spoil sport, etc.
