Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]
The portly landlady is the first one Erik turns to in search of his old friend Derk, when he discovers that the Red Orb is missing from the spot where the two stashed it after stealing it. Ruby recalls hearing that Derk has opened an upscale store, leading Erik to conclude that Derk betrayed him and sold the Orb.
Ruby also provides one of the possible solutions to the next dilemma faced by the Hero and Erik - passing from Heliodor's slums to the main area of the city. Ruby was apparently once a dead ringer for the popular dancer Roxy before she gained a huge amount of weight, and this resemblance bizarrely even extends to her handwriting, which can still pass for Roxy's. The party can choose to have Ruby forge a steamy love letter to distract the guard manning the gate to uptown Heliodor, who is smitten with Roxy.
Ruby is not among the residents of Heliodor who appear at The Last Bastion in the game's second act, and her fate after the fall of Yggdrasil is unknown.
