Apocalyptic Lightning is an enemy-only skill that electrocutes whole groups of adventurers with the fury of the heavens.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
Two types of A.P. are used in IX; one for the Wonder wyrtles and Greygnarl that deals 162~197 damage, and another for Murdaw which bases its damage range on his level. For the latter, the calculation is (70 + level^2 / 22) * 0.9~1.1 for a minimum of 162~198 and a cap of 454~555.
In both cases the skill shares the blast/lightning element as the Bang family of spells.
