Blunt is a recurring spell in the Dragon Quest series. It decreases an enemy's attack by a significant amount.

AppearancesEdit

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry SkiesEdit

Blunt is learned only by Mages at level 42 and reduces attack by 50% for 6~9 turns. It costs 8 MP to cast, and has a base accuracy of 75% if the caster's magical might is lower or equal to 50. Once the stat increases to 51, the spell will slowly rise in accuracy to a cap of 100% at 799 magical might.

Dark skeletons will cast Blunt against the party.

Dragon Quest XEdit

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive AgeEdit

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3Edit

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark PrinceEdit

Blunt reduces one monster's attack by 50% for 2~5 turns. It cannot be cast twice to enhance the effect, and is learned through the Enfeebler, Enigma, Hexcommunicator, and Splash Afficionado talents.
