The silhouette is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest III.
It was originally colored blue-green in its debut but changed to red with its reappearance in the sixth game, and remained that way until XI where it returned to being blue-green.
Characteristics[edit]
The malefic moans of the murdered given form, which float into battle like a fiery shadow, doing the deadly Death Dance that has a chance to slay all enemies where they stand. A force to be feared, these monsters are astoundingly resistant to all manner of elements and ailments in each appearance. In later games in the series, the spectres gained the ability to breathe out ice-cold breath from their maws and even pure darkness as part of their offensive repertoire.
