The chasmonaut is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest II. It is an undead foot soldier serving in the Archfiend's armies.
Characterstics
Chasmomauts are skeletal warriors with yellowing bones that are clad in red and pink armor who carry a longsword and shield into battle. The shield bears the symbol of the Children of Hargon on it. They have a chance to drop the shields they carry, which will curse any adventurer with the misfortune to equip them. After a nearly 30 year absence in the series, the skeletons made their reappearance in Dragon Quest XI.
