Cutting Edge is a greatsword skill that covers the user in a bright light before attacking enemies with a full-powered swing.

Appearances

Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake

Cutting Edge is learned by the Prince of Midenhall at level 41. it costs 20 MP and deals 270% Strike-element damage to one foe. The Souped-up version is Unbridled Blade.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

Cutting Edge was retroactively added to the 2024 remake, where it can learned by Warriors upon reaching level 48 if their wisdom exceeds 93 points. It inflicts 220% Strike-element damage to one foe, and costs 14 MP.

  • The May 23rd, 2025 update patch has buffed Cutting Edge to deal 300% damage

Cutting Edge is learned at rank 7 of the Heir Apparent vocation.

Dragon Quest X

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age

Cutting Edge costs 8 MP to perform, and will deal 157~225% damage to one enemy. It cannot perform a critical hit, and requires the Luminary and Hendrik to invest 10 skill points into the Greatswords panel of their character builder to unlock.

Cutting Edge is one of Terry's skills.

Dragon Quest Tact

Known as Slashing Edge in this game, it is known naturally by Night clubber at level 1 and can be learned by Axesaurus, Robbin' 'oodlum, and Skeleton soldier at level 22, and Squidzilla at level 31. It costs 20 MP to use and deals 195% potency physical damage to a single enemy. Slashing Edge can also be taught to any unit by using an ability scroll.
