Call of the Wild is a summoning skill that unleashes a pack of ferocious wolves on the enemy. It debuted in Dragon Quest VII as one of Ruff's innate abilities and has since been used by other animal-themed characters.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake[edit]
Call of the Wild is learned by the Princess of Moonbrooke, owing to the temporary transformation her father placed on her to hide from monsters during the sacking of Moonbrooke. It costs 7 MP to perform and beckons four wolves to attack random enemies for 8~17 Strike-element damage per bite, meaning against a single foe the damage range is 32~68.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit]
Monster Wranglers will learn Call of the Wild when speaking to Monty after delivering to him three rescued monsters. It costs 3 MP and the four wolves deal 10~20 Strike-element per bite, making the damage range against one monster 40~80.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]
Ruff learns Call of the Wild at level 13. The MP cost is jsut 2 and the damage is calculated as (Level x 1.5) +/- 10% over four random targets, with a 1/4th chance for the call to not be answered. In the 3DS remake, damage is calculated as (Level+5) +/- 10%.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined[edit]
Call of the Wild is learned when Ruff masters his Wolf Boy vocation. It costs 5 MP and sends four wolves to deal 5~10 base damage to random enemies. Each wolf has a 1/6th chance to miss its target on top of the monster's evasion rate, if any, and their strikes increase in power after Ruff reaches level 10, hitting for 75~80 damage at level 60.
