Damage Barrier is a recurring spell in the Dragon Quest series. It protects a party member with a shield that temporarily reduces the amount of damage they take.

Dragon Quest Tact[edit]
Damage Barrier is known naturally by Gem slime at level 1 and costs 24 MP to cast. It has a range of up to two squares away from it, can be self-cast, and reduces damage taken by a single ally by 15% for 3 turns.
Alarmour and Lleviathan can learn the awakening perk Rare Damage Barrier, which gives them a 20% chance to activate Damage Barrier at the start of each action. Dark brownie can learn the awakening perk Sporadic Damage Barrier, which gives it a 40% chance to activate Damage Barrier at the start of each action. Abullddon, Golden girl, Masqueraider, and Mythsteed can learn the awakening perk Instant Damage Barrier, which activates Damage Barrier at the start of each battle. Spitegeist and Wulfspade are able to learn the perk as well, through Talent Blossoming and the Character Builder respectively.
