Etymology[edit]

  • Tartarus is the region of the Greek underworld where the truly wicked are damned to be tormented, and is serves as the temporary prison for the Titans until their eventual escape at the end of the mythic cycle.
  • The monster's Japanese name is taken from the Anzu, a fire-breathing bird of Mesopotamian mythology.
