The shell armour is a recurring suit of armor in the series. It is made out of armoured shells connected with chains.

Dragon Quest III
The shell armour has a defence bonus of +16. It can be equipped by the Hero, warriors, priests, merchants, and sages. It can be purchased with 300 gold coins at the Weapon & Armour shop in Romaria, and sold for 225.
Dragon Quest VII
The shell armour has a defence bonus of +18, but reduces style by 25. It can be equipped by the Hero, Kiefer, Sir Mervyn, and Aishe. It can be purchased from Frobisher for 880 gold and sold for 440. Shell armour can also be won as a prize from the Lucky Panel at the Casino.
