A very powerful herb that must be diluted with other ingredients before it is used.[1]

Nook grass is a potent herb that can be brewed as a tea that warms the drinker's body and helps protect them against the effects of cold weather.[2]It is brewed by Marta at her cottage for the party after encountering an avalanche during their first visit to the Blizzard Peaks. Marta grows and cultivates the herbs herself in the cave behind her cottage.[3]Afterwards, the party is able to travel in the snow to reach the village of Orkutsk.

Later, when the party journeys to the Herb Grotto and finds the herb doctor Marek inside collapsed from the cold, they give him the bag from his mother, which contains leaves of nook grass. He is able to recover by taking the nook grass straight from the bag, breathing out fire in the process. According to Marek, the grass must always be diluted before it is used due to its potency.[4]Later, when Marta's Cottage is attacked by the possessed Sir Leopold and his group of hellhounds, Marta is able to temporarily blind the dog by hurling a bag of nook powder at him. This allows Boris to rescue Marek from his clutches while he is distracted.

After acquiring the Godbird's soulstone, but before defeating Evil Sir Leopold at the Lord High Priest's residence, the player can receive four bunches of nook grass from Marek at Orkutsk by lying to him and answering, "Yes" when he asks if the dog has been defeated. Marek can give you four more bunches after Leopold's defeat by visting him in the cave behind Marta's Cottage. One more bunch of nook grass can be found in a bag at the Dragovian Sanctuary in the postgame. Hellspawns can also normally drop nook grass, as well. This is the only other way to acquire more. It can be sold for 600 gold each, but it is not recommended to do so as it is hard to acquire.

Nook grass is used in the following recipes for the Alchemy Pot:

  2. Jessica: "This tea's made from something called 'nook grass'. It warms you up and makes you more resistant to the cold weather. It's a bit strong at first, but I could get to like it! Why don't you ask the old lady for some too, Hero?"
  3. Marta: Please, drink. This nook grass tea will keep you warm even in the bitter cold of this snowy land.
  4. Marek: "Nook grass! I knew it. Dobroe. This will be perfect. Normally, we drink this diluted in tea, but now I must drink it straight..."
