Free Spirit (translated as carefree in the Game Boy Color version of Dragon Quest III) is a personality in the Dragon Quest III remakes, in Dragon Quest X, and in Dragon Quest: Monster Parade.

In the Dragon Quest III remakes, free spirit is a personality that improves resilience, wisdom and luck growth, but reduces agility growth.
At the start of the game, the Hero becomes a free spirit by receiving the final test of character in the theater. The hero must leave the theater without resolving the situation.
Other party members have a chance to be a free spirit when recruited as any class, depending on their stat bonuses.
An existing character cannot become a free spirit through items.
