"Downloadable content" referes to additional features that generally expand the experience a game offers in some way and can be obtained digitally, either for free or for a charge. Most DLC in the series is free, but there are exceptions.
- Dragon Quest V (Cell phone version): Monster magnet,
- Dragon Quest VII (3DS Remake): Additional stone tablets.
- Dragon Quest VIII (3DS Remake): Additional equipment.
- Dragon Quest IX: Special guests, DQVC shop, additional quests.
- Dragon Quest X (Offline): Version 2 Expansion (Dragon Quest X: The Sleeping Hero and the Guiding Ally - Offline).
- Dragon Quest XI: Additional items and equipment.
- Dragon Quest XI S: Additional items, equipment and outfits, Voice Drama (Japan only, paid DLC).
- Dragon Quest Heroes: Additional weapons.
- Dragon Quest Heroes II: Additional weapons.
- Dragon Quest Builders: Additional blocks, items and blueprints.
- Dragon Quest Builders (Smartphone version): New tools, equipment and items. The brand new content for this version is all Paid DLC.
- Dragon Quest Builders 2: Additional blocks, tools, outfits, and items. Some of it is paid DLC.
