Malicite is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. It is a jewel filled with evil energy that is used in Alchemy to place curses on pieces of equipment, fulfilling the same role as the Devil's tail.

Malicite is mainly used to create pieces of cursed equipment in the Krak Pot. It has a 1% chance of being found in Rank 4 (F) blue treasure chests or can be dropped rarely by Mummies, Blood mummies, and Grrrgoyles. Hootingham-Gore will always drop one. It can also be created with alchemy, as well. When the DQVC was still available, malicite could be purchased during various sales. Malicite can be received as a reward for repeating Quest #183: Poison Needle 1 Ow 1. One Malicite, along with manky mud and a Sage's elixir, are required to complete Quest #127: A Right Royal Nightmare. It can be sold for 666 gold.

Malicite is used as a regular alchemy material for improving various accessories or can be sold for 1,000 gold. It can be dropped by Wight kings and Zombie gladiators.
